Over several weeks in late September and October, the American Red Cross in Maine will hold 5 smoke alarm installation events with a goal of installing 1,000 smoke alarms in Maine. This is part of an effort to install 100,000 smoke alarms nationwide (and 1,000,000th alarm-to-date) in a campaign known as “Sound the Alarm. Save a Life.”  Register online to join the Red Cross on Saturday, September 23 at 9am for an installation event in Skowhegan or visit for more information and to sign up in a different part of the state. Volunteer roles during the event include safety educator, smoke alarm installer, and documenter.
